Avocet announces positive drilling results

Tuesday, 28th August 2007 (1844 views)

Avocet Mining has announced that drilling at its North Lanut site in Indonesia has yielded positive results.

Infill drilling at the Riska pit and Effendi deposit took place, with the aim of converting inferred resources to indicated and measured status, according to the company.

It is hoped that the drilling, along with work on new areas previously undrilled, will further the life of the mine, as well as expand resources at the Indonesian site.

Jonathan Henry, chief executive officer of Avocet, said that the results of the drilling at the North Lanut site, along with work at the nearby Banda exploration area, "gives Avocet an excellent platform for further organic growth in the south-east Asia region and more particularly in Indonesia".

Revised resource models will now be produced over the coming months following the recent drilling, while the geological models are also being addressed.

Avocet came under UK management control in 1989, according to the firm's website.
