EMED expands gold zone

Tuesday, 21st August 2007 (1855 views)

Gold exploration company EMED Mining has extended the porphyry gold system at the Biely Vrch prospect in Slovakia through drilling, it has been revealed.

According to AFX News, the deposit is still open to the north and south while six of the 11 drill holes tested so far have confirmed mineralisation.

AFX News reports that porphyry gold deposits tend to occur in clusters and usually measure over 100 million tonnes.

"These first two holes in our current drilling programme already suggest that the size of the previously reported zone of mineralisation will be at least doubled with further drilling," managing director Harry Anagnostaras-Adams was quoted by AFX News as saying.

So far, results to date have defined a zone of mineralisation estimated to contain 15 to 23 million tonnes at an average grade of 1.0g/t gold, containing approximately 0.5 to 0.7 million ounces.

EMED Mining is involved in projects from Europe to the Middle East including past centres of mining and under-explored areas.
