Gold plasma TVs 'popular in Turkey'

Tuesday, 24th July 2007 (1086 views)

Golden plasma TVs are selling well in Turkey, Digicom has claimed.

The chairman of the company's board of directors Sabri Yigit told news provider Sabah that the Turkish market has been receptive to the product.

"We sold 12 units last year and this summer we received 20 orders," he said.

According to the report, Digicom - which distributes products by brands such as Hitachi, Pioneer and Sansui - was surprised by the level of interest.

The news comes after the revelation that Nokia has released a gold edition of its Sirocco phone, available for £450 on a contract worth £35 a month or in a Sim-free edition for £800.

German firm Xexoo also recently released a gold-plated iPod Nano, soon to be made available in a diamond-encrusted version.

Unofficial Apple weblog TUAW asked: "What do you get for the iPod owner that has everything? Why, a gold plated Nano, of course."
