50th Boeing 737-700 marked with gold medallion

Tuesday, 24th July 2007 (1101 views)

Boeing has commemorated the delivery of its 50th Boeing 737-700 aircraft by mounting a gold medallion decal on the plane.

Located next to the passenger loading door, the medallion will serve as a sign to let people travelling onboard the craft know it is the 50th of its kind.

The latest addition to AirTran Airways' fleet, the plane joins 49 other Boeing 737-700 and 87 Boeing 717-300 as part of the youngest all-Boeing convoy in America

Joe Leonard, chairman and chief executive officer for AirTran Airways, commented: "The addition of our 50th Boeing 737 is an important milestone and we look forward to adding many more new planes in the future."

Described by the company as one of the world's "most popular and reliable" jet aircrafts, the carrier reportedly enables the airline to save on energy by using the latest technological advancements.

Boeing is headquartered in Chicago and employs more than 150,000 people in 70 countries.
