The Sultan of Brunei's daughter got married this month in a ceremony sparkling with gold.

More than 2,000 people witnessed the ceremony, which featured the bride and groom being dirven through the capital in a gold Rolls-Royce.

The bride wore a maroon and gold Malay brocade for an event that closed two weeks of celebration.

She also sat underneath a gold-leaf canopy at the head of the hall.

An employee of Brunei's development ministry, the princess' new husband is an architect and works for the prime minister.

Brunei is located on the south-east Asian island of Borneo and became independent from the UK in 1984.
