Mineral exploration company Corex Gold has announced the discovery of two new gold zones on its Caliche property, Mexico.

Corex reports that exploration programmes have identified gold mineralisation over a north-east zone spanning five kilometres (km) cross-cut by six striking shear zones - El Zorillo Cabeza Blanca, San Quentin, Los Japoneses, Chinos Altos and La Espanola.

The new gold zones are at San Quentin - where 1.2 km of strike was identified by mapping - and Cabeza Blanca which contains a three level mine.

"A nominal 100 metre centre grid over this area returned an average gold value of 1.79 grammes per tonne (g/t) of gold, the high assay was 6.66 g/t of gold, the lowest included assay was 0.055 g/t of gold," a company release noted in regards to the Cabeza Blanca zone.

San Quentin turned up 22 samples, the results of which show sample average to be 0.750 g/t of gold, a high value of 3.670 g/t of gold and the lowest assay result of 0.071 g/t of gold.

Further more detailed sampling and mapping is currently underway at the site.
