Friday, 30th March 2007 (3226 views) Randgold Resources has announced that it is seeking out a number of mining investment opportunities in African locations. The group, which already has five projects in West Africa and Tanzania, has confirmed that during the next six months it will be convening with government officials from a host of other countries. These include the Central African Republic, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, Mauritania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique and Kenya. In an interview with Miningmx yesterday, Mark Bristow, chief executive of Randfold, said it hoped that new projects would allow the group to add one million gross ounces of gold to its output, comparable to its development in 2006. Rod Quick, who is undertaking the group's exploration of at least eight countries in the next six months, said that its assessment of various potential projects in Africa had been comprehensive. "There's not one significant junior to mid-cap mining company in Africa we haven't looked at," he said. "We had a couple [of contracts arranged] in Ghana and I'm sure we'll be able to dish up some more before July," he added.
