A resource estimated by Zambezi has graded 1.5 per cent copper as well as 0.5 grams of gold per tonne at the Cheowa copper gold project in Zambia.

In partnership with Glencore International, the Cheowa site has predicted inferred copper resources of 1.7 million tonnes and the resource will be corroborated during this year.

Further, ZRL has identified a parallel zone of mineralisation with dimensions of 200m strike and 50m down dip, located in the hanging wall approximately 6m above the main mineralised zone.

Zambezi Resources also discovered an area of mineralisation that is six metres above the central mineralised zone and this parallel zone has a 200 metre strike.

A statement released by Zambezi Resources' managing director Julian Ford said: "This zone remains open along strike and down dip with several mineralised intersections awaiting assay. These results are expected by the end of February.

"The helicopter-borne VTEM survey technique has proved of critical importance at Cheowa, allowing direct drill targeting of electrical conductors."

Mr Ford continued to state Glencore will fund the initial stages of the development programme undertaken at Cheowa.
