Mining experts to speak of progress at conferenceThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Friday, 26th January 2007 (2156 views) Experts from all corners of the African mining industry are to turn their attention towards investment progress at this year's annual Mining Indaba in Cape Town.Since last year's event, where speakers discussed the many promising opportunities for mining in Africa, the issue of investment has become increasingly important. Mining companies are contributing to the economic prosperity of the continent by pumping investment back into local communities and creating opportunities for those who live in mineral-rich areas. And increasingly mining companies are waking up to issues such as black economic empowerment and the eradication of HIV/Aids and are changing the way they view their investment priorities. From February 6th to 8th some 65 speakers, 150 sponsors and over 3,000 delegates from the mining industry will gather at the Cape Town Convention Centre to discuss the progress that is being made in these areas. Speaking of last year's successful event, David Hale, president of Hale Advisors, said: "The presence of 3,000 people at Cape Town's Indaba 2006 mining conference makes it very clear that the minerals industry is Africa's most immediate hope for obtaining large amounts of private investment and new opportunities for economic growth."
