Thursday, 25th January 2007 (2136 views) Fijian gold workers are to receive a warm welcome in Canada as a Vancouver employment agency looks to recruit skilled labourers from the country to work on various construction projects.Jobrox Solutions will be looking to take on several skilled workers from Fiji and will be turning its attention primarily to those who lost their jobs at the Emperor Gold Mine in Vatukoula when it was closed down. The company's president, Arvinder Bubber, said the move will benefit both parties since it will help to meet the growing demand for skilled workers in Canada whilst also dealing with the problem of oversupply in Fiji. "I should stress that the recruitment will focus on skills that are surplus in Fiji so that our efforts do not adversely affect local industries which also need the skills required in Canada," he told Fijilive.com. According to the province of British Columbia some 120,000 skilled workers are needed to fill the gap in Canada's labour market ahead of the Winter Olympics in 2010. Jobrox will now be working with the Fiji Consulate in Vancouver to recruit skilled workers from Fiji.
