NewWest expands mineralisation

Thursday, 21st December 2006 (2367 views)

The area of known mineralisation at NewWest Gold's Sandman Project in Humboldt county, Nevada, has been expanded.

A total of three out of 20 drill holes at south-east Pediment intersected high grade gold occurrences, with one of these new holes finding "significant thickness of near-surface high-grade mineralisation".

NewWest Gold announced that its intention for the phase two drill programme at the site was to discover the extent of mineralisation, gain core samples that are due for metallurgical testing and also get confirmation of grades from previous drilling work.

Steve Alfers, president and CEO of NewWest Gold, said: "The Phase Two program at Southeast Pediment clearly achieved its objectives, further defining the shape and continuity of mineralization along the andesite sills."

"Results from west south-east Pediment are encouraging because they identify a new high-angle structure and a prospective exploration target".

Existing deposits at the Sandman property are near-surface and also acquiescent with open-pit mining. Last year more than 600 holes were drilled at the site.
