Quebec has "golden highway" running through it

Tuesday, 19th December 2006 (2219 views)

NioGold Mining Corporation has updated the gold world on its most recent movements at the Quebec-based Marban Mine Block.

Located inside the Malartic Gold Mining Camp, the Marban Mine Block was the recipient of a diamond drilling programme throughout 2006. This entailed 63 holes being made and extensive results will be released in January.

The results showed that gold mineralisation had values of around 3.62 grams of gold per tonne for lengths of over 26.4 metres.

A higher grade core went one step further with grades of 10.77 grams of gold per 4.0 metres.

Between 1961 and 1974 the Marban Mine in Quebec produced two million tonnes of ore with an average grade of 5.27 grams of gold per tonne. This eventuated in the production of 330,000 ounces of gold.

NioGold Mining Corporation is a junior exploration company which owns properties in the Val D'Or mining camp as well as three mines within the Marban Mine Block – Kierans, Norlartic and Marban Mines.
