Verena Minerals has reported further drill intersections of "significant" proportions at its Volta Grande gold project in Para State, Brazil.

A distance of 50.5 metres at a gold grade of 1.2 grams per tonne was intersected at the property as well as "significant parallel zones".

During the drilling programme, the Grota Seca east section was targeted and Verena has declared that the results obtained from the exploration are comparable to the target zone at Grota Seca West.

Verena's George Flach has just returned from the project at Volta Grande following a data review of the diamond drill results and tour of the site.

Results have discovered that the main zone of mineralisation is "quite wide" which consequently means that Verena's gold project has the scale for a large open pit operation should they wish to pursue this option.

The mining company has been located in Brazil since 1996 and states that it is determined to focus on mineral exploration in the South American country.
