Anthony Ghosh from London, also known as DJ Talent, has been the victim of three attempted muggings in the past six months due to having a mouthful of gold teeth.

The 22-carat gold teeth cost Mr Ghosh £10,000 and were designed to make him "instantly recognisable" he says, but they have brought the DJ a lot of unwelcome attention.

The gold teeth have also resulted in Mr Ghosh's jaw being an extra 2lb heavier, which causes him some discomfort.

Mr Ghosh explained: "I've had knives pulled on me and a gun was put to my head by muggers who said, 'open your mouth and hand over the gold'. I had to run for my life."

He added: "I've become a walking cash machine for thieves."

Gold teeth are not the only form of gold that can be put in one's mouth. Swiss chocolatier DeLaFee produces chocolate pralines that are covered by 24-carat gold leaf and cost €76.85 (£51.56) for a celebration box.

Gold leaf is edible and comes in a range of food products offered by DeLaFee such as sushi and tartina as well as champagne and the spirit, Goldschlager produced by Diageo.
