Slovakia reaps 'excellent drill results'Tuesday, 24th October 2006 (2257 views) Eastern Mediterranean Resources, which is based in Cyprus, has announced "excellent" results in its initial drilling experiments in Slovakia. The company confirmed it has found a gold system at Biely Vrch in the Detva Licence area and that results had revealed more than 100-metre intersections consistent with more gold systems. Bierly Vrch is a virgin discovery and was found through low-detection geochemical techniques. Only two drill holes have been made so far and an anomalous zone containing over a 100 parts of gold per billion grams of soil has been found. At its highest level gold reached 877 parts of gold per billion grams of soil. The manner of mineralisation indicates potential for a stock-work vein style developed above a gold-copper body and there is also a large zone of potentially open-cuttable mineralisation present. Eastern Mediterranean is also exploring Bulgaria and has just received licences for neighbouring Romania. The company's region of interest appears to be the Mesozoic to Tertiary age tectonic belt which takes shape over a 3,000-kilometre wide stretch reaching from Iran to eastern Europe.
