Harmony to broadcast radio roadshowFriday, 25th August 2006 (1421 views) Building on its commitments to serve the communities in which it operates, Harmony Gold has teamed up with AirMedia to stage a huge radio roadshow in South Africa.AirMedia will visit every single Harmony Gold mineshaft and hostel over a seven-week period, BizCommunity reports. The company will make almost 60 separate outside broadcasts (OBs) and give Harmony Gold miners the chance to find out what it's like to be a DJ. "We will be delivering the morning show from 4.30am live from the shaft and then moving the OB to the hostel in the afternoon for the later show," AirMedia's Paul Anthony explained. He said the shows would include music, interviews with Harmony workers and information about health and safety initiatives. "These will include fun auditions for any miner wanting to try his or her hand at being a DJ," Mr Anthony added. The broadcasts will be played on Harmony FM, the company's radio station. "In bringing the station to the workforce it allows for a lot more interactivity," said Harmony Gold's Nic Alexandre. Harmony states that it is "committed to the development of the communities and countries in which it operates".
