Luiri starts programme in ZambiaTuesday, 22nd August 2006 (2345 views) Luiri Gold has announced a drilling contract with Drillafrica to undertake 5,000 metres worth of drilling at the Luiri Hills project in Zambia. The project, due to start in September of this year, will see diamond and RC drill work being carried out at the Matala and Dunrobin deposits. The two sites have an estimated resource of 108,000 ounces of gold and an inferred resource of 173,000 ounces. At the end of July, the company completed geophysical sampling work covering the western xone of the Matala Dome feature. This feature is considered a highly prospective area, containing multiple gold targets. Samples from trenching surveys have been sent to laboratories in Perth for analysis. Mineralised horizons consisting of silicified shears and reasonably well developed boxworks were found in the structure. Mike Spernick, the president and chief executive officer of Luiri Gold, commented: "The initiation of this phase of our exploration programme is significant for Luiri. "It will substantially increase our geological understanding of both of these highly prospective deposits and bring us much closer to extending the estimated resources within the Matala Dome and assist with targeting IOCG deposits within the greater project area, which are the objectives of our programme."
