Cluff Gold discover new high grade area

Friday, 28th July 2006 (2983 views)

Cluff Gold today announced that a high grade area of the eastern zone orebody has been recently unearthed at its Baomahun project in Sierra Leone.

The site, 180 kilometres east of the capital Freetown, is located in an area of similar geography to the Lake Victoria gold fields of Tanzania.

Developing on work carried out earlier this year, one drill hole passed through significant mineralisation in the main structure, with a 16m high grade zone giving average readings of 20.61 grams per tonne of gold (g/t Au). The one metre wide centre reading for this zone stood at 111.5 g/t Au.

The same hole revealed that the eastern zone orebody extends to a minimum depth of 170 metres and there are strong indications that grade readings strengthen as the orebody gets deeper.

In addition to these results, exploration of the 100m long gap between the project's central and western zones revealed mineralisation. This confirmed earlier sampling which had indicated that the two zones make up part of one much larger structure.

Cluff Gold's technical director, Douglas Chikohora, said: "This is a phenomenal exploration result, as these high grade drilling intercepts have far surpassed management expectations. Baomahun is an exciting project and management is now confident that it is showing all the indicators of a potentially major gold deposit."
