A new jewellery range has been launched with a novel difference – each of the rings can discreetly hold a Viagra pill.

The Florida company, viagraring.com, offers gold and sterling silver rings in a variety of styles, with prices starting under $50.

Pfizer, the pharmaceuticals company which holds the patent for Viagra, recently saw a Chinese court rule in its favour against companies making generic versions of the drug.

Speaking on the ruling, Pfizer spokesperson Paul Fitzhenry told Reuters: "We see the ruling as an affirmation of China's commitment toward an effective patent protection environment."

"It gives companies like Pfizer renewed confidence in the value of a Chinese patent."

The drug is prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction, most common in older men, though is not suitable in combination with angina medication.

There have also been recent concerns raised in University of Alabama research about possible negative side-effects to a patient's sight, although the popularity of the drug should mean a healthy market for the unusual new ring.
