Ethical jewellers honoured by gem societyWednesday, 24th May 2006 (1371 views) Jeweller Mark Moeller has received the 2006 Robert M Shipley Award from the American Gem Society (AGS).Mr Moeller, the owner and president of jeweller's RF Moeller in St Paul, Minnesota was awarded the prize because of his contribution to the jewellery industry and gemology, as well as his laudable personal ideals. The AGS was established in 1934 by Robert M Shipley as a trade association of professional gemologists. The group is based in Las Vegas and members must adhere to a code of ethics. Six other members were recipients of Fellow Distinction Awards: Tom Colucci of Jabel Incorporated; Lorraine Dodds of Karat Gold Corner; Lazare Kaplan International's Marcee Feinberg; Robert A Lynn of Lynn's Jewelry; John Nash of Nash Jewelers; and Weber Jewelers' Fred Weber. Ruth Batson, executive director and chief executive of the AGS, said: "Fellow Award recipients are individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to high ideals and purposes. They should be recognised before their peers in celebration of their achievements." The AGS works particularly to protect the consumer by prohibiting misleading advertising.
