Gold from mesquite mine

Friday, 21st April 2006 (3205 views)

Gold production for 2006 at the Mesquite Mine in California is expected to reach 17,000 ounces, according to the latest report.

The mine site, which is currently being operated by mining company Western Goldfields, is subject to further bonding and habitat replacement costs in order to receive continued permission for mining.

Furthermore, plans for the site include the engineering of a permitted heap leach pad expansion, due to be carried out by Vector Colorado.

In order for the works to go ahead, Micon International will be the company providing the management for the feasibility study, which it expects to have completed by the middle of this year.

Current mineral resources at the mine are measured at over 200 million tonnes, with an average grade of 0.018 ounces per tonne – totalling 3.5 million ounces of gold.
