Canadian-based Galantas is currently building the first gold mine in Ireland and aims to add value to the project by using rare Irish gold in an exclusive line of 18-carat gold jewellery.

The firm owns a 100 per cent interest in Omagh Minerals, which in turn has sole rights to a 189 square kilometre prospecting license in County Tyrone.

Galantas has announced that channel sampling at the Northern Ireland gold mine has revealed an extension of around 30 metres to the southern end of the Kearney Vein.

Thirty nine assays at the mine carried an average gold grade of 22.24 grams per tonne of gold over a 0.36 metre average width. One assay carried a grade of 106.24 g/t over 0.28 metres.

A total of 124 samples were taken from 23 saw cut channels, perpendicular to the vein. The person overseeing the sampling is Moe Lavigne and samples were sent to OMAC Laboratories for testing.
