If the love of your life has a taste for the finer things in life, a luxury chocolate cake adorned with edible gold could be the perfect gift.

The Egyptian Gold Truffle Gateaux from California-based Belgique Truffle Gateau features 23-carat edible gold flakes on top, the Miami Herald reports.

Created for the King Tut exhibit at Fort Lauderdale's Museum of Art, a pair of the opulent edibles are being sold at the museum gift shop for $9.99.

Alternatively they can be ordered from website trufflegateau.com where 24 of the classy cakes can be yours for $60, or from chocolate.com.

The team at chocolate.com described the glistening goodies as "a perfect touch to a special occasion".

A spokesman for Belgique Truffle Gateau added: "Our 24-carat Egyptian Gold Truffle Gateaux will be a wonderful addition to a wedding, anniversary, party or special event."
