Gold tennis racket to go on displayWednesday, 22nd February 2006 (3843 views) Jeweller Kwiat has created a gold tennis racket encrusted with diamonds totalling over 200 carats, the National Jeweller reports.The racket, created in association with the first-ever Men's Tennis Channel Open, is worth over a million dollars. It is composed of 18-carat white gold and is inlaid with over 3,500 stones. The men's tennis tournament will take place between February 27th and March 5th, and the Kwiat racket will be displayed at Las Vegas' Mirage Hotel for the duration. A Kwiat release says that it will be flown from New York to Las Vegas on Jet Blue's "Diamond Express". After the tournament the tennis racket will go on tour around the US. This year sees the inaugural Men's Tennis Channel Open at the Darling Memorial Tennis Centre in Las Vegas. Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick are among those competing. Kwiat was founded in 1907 and its operations include the cutting and selection of diamonds, as well as the design of specific jewellery pieces.
