Gold nib pen for writers who value wordsThursday, 19th January 2006 (4308 views) Sarnoff Art & Writing is selling gold nib fountain pens for writers who want to invest in their art.Owner, Henry Sarnoff, has been selling luxury items for artists and writers for the past ten years in his shop in Arizona. Those who want to indulge their creative endeavours can buy fountain pens with 18-carat gold nibs, or invest in a watercolour brush for a mere $800 (£455). Mr Sarnoff commented: "It's about an investment. You're investing your time and your energy (in painting), so why not invest in your materials, too?" The writers' area is Mr Sarnoff's favourite particular area of the shop, featuring hand-engraved nibs, piston-filled nibs and spill-proof inkwells. Mr Sarnoff added: "I've always felt that writing is a form of art, and it's become a luxury. It slows people down, they find themselves taking their time and using different words to express themselves." Gold has become increasingly attractive as an investment as prices have risen dramatically recently. The Financial Express reports that gold investments rose by 30 per cent in value in 2005, with a further rise predicted for the new year.
