Indian jeweller eyes expansionWednesday, 21st December 2005 (4327 views) Indian gold jewellery maker Carbon Accessories is poised to launch its maiden assault on the wider women's accessories market, Sify reports. The company currently sells its 18-carat gold and diamond jewellery in 53 outlets across India. But the jewellery designer now plans to move into related markets, including watches, writing instruments and leather accessories. "Carbon, an aspirational brand, is currently targeted at young women but will also get into products like cufflinks and pens targeted at the metrosexual man," explained Mahesh S. Rao. The company is also primed for a round of geographical expansion. It already boasts a strong presence in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore but Chandigarh, Guwahati, Pune and Vizag are now on its radar as the company targets India's top 12 cities. International expansion isn't ruled out once it has achieved its domestic aims. Carbon says it has been able to increase its capital since AsianStar grabbed a 50 per cent stake of the company last year.
