Kuala Lumpur's Islamic Arts Museum has one of the finest displays of Islamic heritage on Earth.

Its items are worth a total of $40 million and date back over 1,300 years.

Primarily on display are Islamic calligraphy, sculpture and jewellery.

The first floor is a tribute to Islamic architecture and showcases models of some of the most famous Islamic monuments such as the Mosque of the Prophet Muhammed in Medina and the Taj Mahal.

Director of the museum Syed Mohamad told Bloomberg: "We are an art and cultural center for Muslims and non- Muslims because art is supposed to be shared with all religion. Religion is completely separated here and left to the religious centres."
