Mining firm Red Back has confirmed that a significant amount of gold mineralization has been reported at a project in Ghana.

The project is currently taking place in the country's Boin Valley, 80 kilometres southwest of Red Back's Chirano gold mine.

Sampling from the Boin Valley found a 4.5 kilometre northeast trending gold in soil anomaly with ppb values of over 100 over a 2.5 kilometre strike length with over 300 metres in width.

Richard Clark, president and chief executive of Red Back, was excited about the new project.

He said: "The Boin Valley West and the Boin Valley East prospects lie in a similar geological setting to all the major gold mines in Ghana and the currently defined soil anomalies at both prospects suggest the potential for gold mineralisation over a five kilometre strike length."
