Mining firm Goldeye Explorations has announced it has begun drilling in Tyrrell Township, Ontario.

The project site is 100 kilometres south of Timmins and is expected to last for three weeks.

Numerous holes have been dug, with the average depth around 1.2 kilometres.

Current mining has been mainly for testing purposes, aimed at determining whether or not the firm should continue to mine. So far Goldeye officials have said they have found good potential targets for gold mineralisation.

Most of Goldeye's current projects are taking place across Ontario, but it also has a few ventures occurring in Chile.

The company expects there to be a significant amount of mining going on this winter.
