Carroll Walker is a jeweller who believes that gold and jewels don't have to be for special occasions only.

Based in San Antonio she has created necklaces, bracelets and earrings that have been worn by celebrities, but now she is trying to fit her craft to the average person.

Mrs Walker's work is sold in top end jewellery stores in New York and Los Angeles, but they can also be found locally.

Often she'll refer to her work as 'bridge jewellery', an attempt to put her jewellery somewhere between the finest and most modest of pieces.

Now she is hard at work on her latest Signature Collection, a series of earrings, necklaces and bracelets made for day to day wearing.

She told the San Antonio Business Journal: "People make jewellery just to be a piece of jewelry in and of itself. I want to have a quality that you can put it on and it's going to look great with what you have in your closet."
