Mining firm Tanqueray Resources has announced that it has discovered a sizable amount of gold.

The gold was found at its Baker Lake Property, 35 kilometres from Baker Lake in Nunavut Territory.

Tanqueray said that a wide area had been surveyed and the 12-hole drilling had gone as deep as 1.2 kilometres.

Seven holes found gold mineralization, three of which showed significantly more potential than the others. Only one hole failed to find any mineralization.

Tanqueray plans an intensive follow-up effort after the positive results, which could begin by the spring of 2006.

The effort will include ground testing and diamond drilling with the hope of expanding the potential mining zone.
