The Gulf's largest 22-carat gold jewellery retailer is today opening a new showroom at Lulu Hypermarket in Darsait, Oman.

Dubai-based Atlas Jewellery Group expanded into Oman in 2002 and has outlets in the UAE, Muscat, Nahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and India.

The hypermarket itself is to be opened tonight by the minister of commerce and industry, Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, reports the Times of Oman.

Mr Ramachandran, Atlas Jewellery's chairman, declared himself pleased about the launch of the new branch.

"The Atlas Jewellery showroom here has an offer on a wide range of gold ornaments in exquisite designs, be it traditional or modern," he said.

The first 100 customers stand to get a special deal and all consumers purchasing gold jewellery worth RO15 will be entered into the Atlas Golden Carnival, in which they could win one of four Toyota Echo cars.

Atlas Jewellery will be opening a further store in Sohar also in Oman.
