Diagold, a new jewellery brand from Kolkata-based private designer Meenakshi Modi, made its debut in Bangalore recently.

Last Friday Ms Modi displayed her 'Waterfall' collection at the Taj Residency, with jewellery geared towards both housewives and businesswomen.

Her work showed jewellery with abundant diamonds in pendants and earrings, along with semi precious stones.

The pieces were said to fit a wide range of preferences, from traditional Pheli designs to modern lightweight pieces that can accompany ethnic or European attire.

It could be the bracelets that made the most noise. Most were made in yellow and rhodium gold with diamond clasps.

Ms Modi, who gets much of her inspiration from the Far East, said: "My sister-in-law was already into jewellery and I decided to incorporate my expertise, and have today found recognition in the niche market."

Prices for the jewellery started at £190.
