Double decade treasure hunterFriday, 30th September 2005 (3247 views) One resident from Calaveras County, USA, is celebrating 20 years of gold and quartz prospecting, according to The Union Democrat.Described by his wife Leslie as a "crazy rockhound", 50 year-old amateur treasure hunter, Al Mackillop, has spent the last two decades scouring his local foothills, rivers and canyons in search of his next gold find. "I just love finding gold," said Mr Mackillop, "I just love looking at it, seeing it". Mr Mackillop often returns from his weekly outings with buckets full of rocks that he believes may contain gold. These are then fed through his crusher leaving a fine powder complete with specks of the precious metal. The prospector then uses this gold to fashion jewellery, which he either sells or gives to friends and members of his family. While he has had a number of jobs over the last two decades, treasure hunting has remained his passion and is a pastime that he describes in profoundly philosophical terms. "Gold is where you find it," said Mr Mackillop to The Union Democrat. "If you don't look, you won't find it."
