Quarter of a century for Sir Zoltan David II

Wednesday, 21st September 2005 (4129 views)

The renowned craftsman Sir Zoltan David II, who works exclusively with platinum and high-carat gold, is celebrating a quarter century of metal art.

Drawing on his Hungarian heritage, Sir David specialises in couture designs and has been awarded with several accolades.

Most recently he was honoured with the Contemporary Design Group Jewellery Designer of the Year 2005 award during Jewellery Week in Las Vegas.

One of the designer's customers, Tim Taft, said: "He is definitely the Versace of precious metal art because of his attention to design and detail and peerless approach to each jewellery design that he creates."

Sir David believes that people and jewellery have a close connection and he therefore endeavours to treat each design as something personal, rather than a product.

Before opening his first shop in Vancouver, Canada, in 1980, Sir David spent eight years training as a goldsmith and diamond setter with Swiss and German master goldsmiths.
