Tuesday, 28th June 2005 (4380 views) The largest open-air Buddha in China is being created by college students, according to Xinhuanet<br/><br/>Measuring 20.6 metres tall, the Buddha statue will be plated with a layer of 12-nanometer pure gold and will be based on a four metre high foundation.<br/><br/>It is thought the statue will cost around four million yuan to build.<br/><br/>Students from the Chongqing Buddhism College will create the piece, which will be displayed in October.<br/><br/>Around 100 students attend the college, which is one of the state key Buddhism colleges.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=16041359"/>
