Jewellery designer Dima Rachid is celebrating success as her jewellery continues to appear on the bodies of top actresses and models.

The Cairo designer creates high-end fashion jewellery, which has been seen on the likes of Teri Hatcher, Gisele Bundchen and Sarah Michelle Gellar, according to the Lebanon Daily Star.

Among the items created by the designer is a 12-layered, 18-carat gold necklace with pearls, moonstones and Peruvian opals, ranging in colour from aqua to light blue.

Ms Rachid describes the item as one of her favourites, retailing at $2,000.

Inspiration from the designs comes from Cairo, according to the designer, who made it big when the European editor of Harper's Bazaar magazine asked her where the jewellery she was wearing was from and then began promoting it.

Her designs are described as simple and modern, but with a touch of "ethnic" flavour.
