Gold medals up for auction in football memorabilia eventThursday, 19th May 2005 (2786 views) Christie's is auctioning a host of gold medals as part of a special Football Memorabilia auction today.A total of 339 items will be auctioned as part of the event, including shirts, medals and the oldest existing version of the FA Cup. Gold items include a 15-carat gold FA Cup winners' medal, 15-carat gold and enamel medals, nine-carat gold division one medals and a European Super Cup winners' medal. The auction of memorabilia also includes the 1966 World Cup winners' medal belonging to Alan Ball, which he previously announced he was planning to sell.
