Jeweller encourages women to make their own trends

Monday, 16th May 2005 (4309 views)

A US jewellery designer is encouraging consumers to blend their personal character into their fashion choices.

Elana Rubin claims she has had enough with fashion trends and rules governing what can and can't be worn and which look is best for when and is bringing her bling to the people of Milwaukee.

The designer sells her jewellery via her website Future Fashionista and is a big hit with a host of top stars already, including Jennifer Garner, Ashlee Simpson, Demi Moore and Nicole Ritchie.

"I think the key to discovering one's fashion personality is to allow your interests to dictate your style rather than strictly following rules or trends. We spend so much time worrying about what's in that we overlook what makes us feel confident and comfortable," she explained to On Milwaukee.

Ms Rubin is now targeting people in the Midwest, rather than simply selling her collections online.

The designer works completely in gold and platinum and explained she wanted to make her work different from other designers.

One of her popular designs is the Totally 80s Charm Necklace, with each component made from 14-carat yellow gold.

The jeweller has even created her own Guide to Gold for visitors to her website.

Necklaces, earrings and bracelets are all available, with some designs including gold playing cards, gold glasses and gold horseshoe charms.track
