Luxury watches popular in JakartaMonday, 16th May 2005 (4932 views) Yafriro Cilibrer Le Temps is the latest in a string of classy watch boutiques to open in Jakarta. The brand's name - meaning "celebrate the time" - epitomises the growing trend for high-class gold timepieces on the Indonesian jewellery market. Avoiding the well-known luxury brands of Cartier and Rolex, the Singapore-based Yafriro International company has decided to showcase work from new and alternative jewellery designers. According to the Jakarta Post, brand founder Iwan K.C. Hew said he had based his business in Indonesia because it is a market that welcomes new ideas and innovative designs. Jean Dunand is another brand to have recognised the growing demand for stylish gold and precious metal creations in the region, and produces a range of precision watches made from yellow, pink and white gold. The Double Tourbillon 300 recently graced the wrist of Prince Albert of Monaco, and is finished in jade gold, with a case of red, yellow or white gold and white gold screws. Yafriro has plans to open a new store later this year in Bangkok, and looks to have some hot competition on its heels as the market for gold watches continues to boom.
