Thursday, 14th April 2005 (5557 views) As part of moves to promote gold, a host of models were seen covered in various pure gold items in front of the Sydney Opera House yesterday.<br/><br/>Models wore a selection of pure gold underwear, breastplates and headwear in the display, showcasing the precious metal in front of miners and bankers, according to Reuters.<br/><br/>The display was part of a global move to promote the metal to consumers and give gold a more contemporary feel.<br/><br/>Bobby Godsell, chief executive of South African mining house AngloGold Ashanti, said: "We want gold to be contemporary, something that is young and people want to possess, to wear."<br/><br/>Gold jewellery purchases increased by seven per cent last year, according to figures from the World Gold Council, the highest results since the late 80s.<br/><br/>According to Merrill Lynch, gold's supply and demand in the future is looking favourable. It predicts a higher demand from investors for bullion and possible fall in mining over the next few years.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8270717"/>
