Cars rev up for Russian gold rushWednesday, 23rd February 2005 (3008 views) Cars are revving up for a gold rush across Russia as contestants in the Expedition Trophy chase a 10kg lump of gold.A total of 72 cars have taken part in the event, which begins in Murmansk for a challenging winter rally. The race typically lasts for two weeks, with racers covering 12,000 km en route to the city of Vladivostok. Cars will race in teams of two in the gruelling seven-stage marathon, with the cars whittled down to just seven teams before the end. Teams from all over the world, including Russia, Germany and the US, will take part in the pursuit of the pot of gold.
