Tuesday, 15th February 2005 (4315 views)

Switzerland is playing host to two key jewellery auctions this week, according to Rapaport.

The first event to take place is Christie's Important Jewels auction, which will be held on February 16th and will feature a host of top items.

Typical prices for items range from $42,000 to $52,000 for a brooch and $2.3 to $2.9 million for the company's key item.

The key feature for Christie's is a rectangular cut diamond pendant with a sapphire surround and mounted on 18 carat blackened gold.

In addition, Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels auction will be held the next day, with items including drop earrings, diamond rings and Cartier designs.

The special auctions are held annually and will be running in St Moritz, with Europe's most famous ski slopes in the background.
