Experts are concerned that the huge amount of Bactrian treasures that have been discovered could still be in danger from criminals and corrupt collectors.

Thousands of pieces of gold and jewellery have been removed from tombs of ancient kings and recovered when they were thought to have been lost forever.

However, the 2,000 year old items including plates, brooches, hairpins, pendants, trees and sandals could be under attack yet again, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

Bank workers and museum staff all helped to uncover the golden items, but Afghan ministers now want the collection to be sent abroad and major museums want to put the items on display.

This decision is now causing problems for the people who risked their lives to uncover the items, since people believe removing the items from secure vaults can only put them at risk again.

In addition, many people feel the items should be on exhibition in Kabul and not spread to other countries.
