The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has held a meeting of senior officials this week to ensure different trades associated with tourism run as smoothly as possible.

Among the issues discussed at the event are ways to promote events and areas, stopping illegal tour operators and the gold sector.

The event included the Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Department of Economic Development.

In the past the department set up special measures to check the sale of gold watches and popular brands in the Gold Souq.

In addition, local tour operators were prevented from taking visitors to specific gold shops of their choice, to ensure tourist visits were fair.
