Innovative Indian jeweller creates new range

Thursday, 9th December 2004 (3907 views)

An innovative Indian jeweller has released another experimental collection - thokai naksha.

Gold Factory has created a number of lightweight ornaments which use 22 carat gold.

The items are reasonably priced though, since the gold is used in thin sheets.

Brinda Ganguly Sarkar, owner of the Rashbehari Avenue store, who has conceptualised the new line told the Telegraph India: "The speciality of the style is that it uses a thin plate of gold on which artisans carve the designs."

Among the items available is a detailed, carved pendant made with semi precious stones.

Items are priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 10,000 and also include matching earrings and tassels shaped like leaves, fish, the sun and other shapes.
