World's first gold and diamond ball createdTuesday, 30th November 2004 (3174 views) A gold and diamond cricket ball has been bought to Australia to mark the beginning of the cricket season.The item which is a perfectly made-to-scale is also being used to celebrate the opening of a new Fior Drissage jewellery store in Melbourne. It is hoped the piece will feature in the Guinness Book of Records, since it is the only one of its kind in the world. The sporting item is made from 18 carat gold stitch and 2704 diamonds and was made in Sri Lanka. According to rediff, the ball weighs 53.83 carats and has a pure 'gold' seam of 125 grams.
