Couple reveal golden opportunity in GermanyWednesday, 17th November 2004 (2822 views) A couple in Germany are making money from gold by educating people on how to find it.Rather than making money from selling the precious metal, Mr and Mrs Schade from the Schiefer mountain region in Germany have been teaching groups, tourists and special parties on how to find gold. Around 700 years before the gold rush in California the area attracted a host of gold seekers and in early 2004, a man found a nugget in the area, the largest discovery of its kind in Germany for 200 years. Marcus Schade, who works around the Gruempen stream, near Theuern in the district of Sonneberg, told IOL: "Of the 244 streams bearing gold in the region this is one of the most lucrative. To have success one has to know where to go and search." According to the husband and wife team, one system to use for finding gold is stone size, as the precious metal sticks mainly to larger stones. Mr Schade has even set up a museum in his own house - the only gold museum in Germany where visitors can view artefacts from early mining including nuggets, pans and minerals.
