London museum goes bling

Friday, 8th October 2004 (4494 views)

Gold jewellery is to form part of a new exhibition on show at London's Victoria and Albert Museum.

Chunky gold jewellery is one of the many items showcased at the Black British Style Exhibition, which is highlighting the power of black fashion.

A host of different styles are covered in the display, with gold jewellery a key part of the recent 'bling bling' trend.

Curator Shaun Cole explained just some of the influence on fashion movements to This is London, claiming: "The trend for oversized, bling jewellery is certainly down to the black hip hop movement."

A host of top stars outfits and accessories are shown as part of the event, including items from Goldie - known for his gold jewellery and dental accessories, and stars such as Jazzie B.
