US metal detector unearths host of golden treasures

Friday, 1st October 2004 (3190 views)

A resident in a Massachusetts town has used a simple metal detector to unearth a host of local artefacts - including gold jewellery.

David Titelbaum has so far not only just uncovered some pieces, which give an insight into the past, but also family heirlooms, according to Town Online.

A special presentation has now taken place, where Mr Titelbaum shared some of his findings in "Metal Detecting: Norwell Underground".

The resident now has a growing collection, which includes coins and jewellery - items he has unearthed during the five years after buying his first metal detector.

Among the items Mr Titelbaum has collected are a gold ring with a large ruby and small diamonds, a coin which dates back to the 1700s and class rings.
